This past summer, several LexYouth members organized and led a variety of summer camps, covering topics like computer programming, Science Bowl preparation, mathematics, and creative writing. These camps gave students a chance to explore their interests, build new skills, and connect with peers who share similar passions.
In addition to the camps, LexYouth also hosted two exceptional Lexington High School alumni, who shared their experiences navigating high school, offered practical advice, and answered questions from current and incoming students. Their insights helped clarify what to expect in high school and gave attendees a valuable perspective on how to make the most of their time at LHS.
Below are some of the flyers from LexYouth’s summer programs:
A weeklong Science Bowl crash course where
Clarke Middle School veterans guided
students through key topics
in chemistry, biology, physics, and
earth science.
A two-week Science Bowl bootcamp for
rising middle schoolers, taught by
Diamond Middle School’s regional
championship team members.
An introductory course where
students learned Python fundamentals
through hands-on coding
and problem-solving exercises.
Students learned the essentials of
Java programming and developed a
foundation for future coding and
computer science courses.
Led by accomplished math competitors, this camp offered two tracks—MathCounts and
AMC 10—helping students strengthen problem-solving skills and prepare
for upcoming contests.
Participants discovered their creative
voice through poetry, flash fiction,
and short stories, drawing inspiration from
literary classics and thoughtful
writing prompts.
Two Lexington High School alumni shared
insights, advice, and honest reflections
to help current and rising students
navigate high school with confidence.
