On May 19th, dozens of LexYouth Volunteers worked together to raise money in the aftermath of the Maui Wildfires. During the morning and afternoon, volunteers walked up and down the streets of Lexington Center, encouraging citizens to raise funds to help Maui rebuild and recover.

On Saturday, August 19th, LexYouth hosted its first Youth Marketplace event on the Lexington Visitors Center Lawn. Twenty-six youth-run booths were set up during the morning (10 AM – 12 PM) and afternoon (12:30 PM – 1:30 PM) sessions of the event. While these booths came from various backgrounds, with younger kids and older teenagers alike, each booth sold unique handmade items, from handmade jewelry, to cloth bags and acrylic charms, to candles and art pieces—the Youth Marketplace allowed kids to engage in crafts they were interested in as a venue for expressing themselves and learning business fundamentals. 

Two experienced LexYouth teachers plan to teach two Python courses this summer online, for students in 5th grade and above. Registration Link: http://gg.gg/summerpython2023

On July 28th, LexYouth volunteers Athena Wang and Sophia Zhang hosted an Art and Sewing Workshop with the help of friends and several parents.

LexYouth teachers generously offered a wide range of complimentary online summer courses for the community.

Rain and drizzle didn’t dampen spirits of CALex members in Lexington’s Patriots’ Day Parade on 4/17 with many other groups. Led by lion dances and followed by a dragon float, an upbeat group waiving balloon bouquets, and Wushu students, our unit was cheered on by bystanders.

Fifteen LexYouth volunteers — part of the Chinese Association of Lexington (CALex) — joined forces last week to raise money to support victims of the recent earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.
